Sea to Peak Expeditions offers adventure sailing holidays predominantly in less travelled and more 'off the beaten track' harbours and locations around the UK and Northern Europe.
Many of our UK sailing holidays are focused around the Scottish West Coast where the use of a yacht gives access to hill walking in some of the more remote and inaccessible areas that are otherwise very difficult to visit from the land.
We also offer hillwalking only adventures, exploring some of the more remote and wild corners of the UK.
Our UK sailing holidays are open to small groups and individuals. A basic level of fitness and reasonable mobility is a requirement for safety reasons; however, prior experience is not required. Clients are encouraged to take a role in crewing the boat, helping out with the actual sailing, domestic duties, as well as taking an interest in passage planning etc..
Professional help and tuition will always be on hand from Richard, a highly experienced RYA instructor/ commercial Yachtmaster and Mountain Leader, who is skipper and owner of Sea to Peak Expeditions.
Sea to Peak Expeditions operates in some of the most beautiful and wild corners of the British Isles and beyond. It has a strong ethos of aiming to minimise its carbon and environmental footprint. All the UK sailing expeditions avoid long distance flights and start/ finish points are all well served by public transport. As well as primary propulsion being wind, the yacht has a large solar array for domestic electricity needs. These are among many other measures that are in place, or are being evolved, to reduce our footprint.
Kimochi is a Feeling 39 which is built to the EU RCD (Recreational Craft Directive) class A (Ocean) standard and is licenced by the MCA for category 2 commercial work with up to 8 persons.
As well as being a very capable offshore sailing yacht she has a centreboard, enabling her to reduce her draught from 2.2m to 0.8m, allowing entry into some of the more interesting and ‘off the beaten track’ adventure sailing locations which are off limits to most commercial boats her size.
Kimochi is a 12m premium performance cruising yacht with an extremely high spec and in excellent condition throughout.
She has many features such as modern Raymarine electronics and MFD's, staysail, Selden furling cruising chute, MiFi, heating, hot shower and a large solar arch for comfortable living off-grid.
We have also recently purchased a new hypalon AB RIB tender enabling us to quickly and safely transfer crew to and from Kimochi.
Kimochi has 4 double berths, but when on individual booking sailing expeditions and overnight adventures up to only 4 clients will be onboard at any one time, who have the use of the 2 double aft cabins and the large saloon for sleeping accommodation. However, on whole boat charters Kimochi can sleep up to 6 clients. All bunks have USB charging points and lee cloths if required.
Guaranteed single occupancy in an aft cabin is available for an additional charge (subject to availability).
Breakfast, lunch and evening meal are provided when on sailing expeditions and overnight adventures, as well as tea/coffee/ juice (see 'Expedition food' page within About tab). Alcoholic drinks are not included.
All crew are supplied with modern offshore lifejackets complete with harnesses. Use of waterproofs and sea boots is also available free of charge (subject to availability).
All mooring and fuel costs are included.
