'I had a wonderful day on Kimochi with Richard, sailing from Felixstowe to the River Ore and Butley Creek last Saturday. Richard is an excellent skipper, relaxed and welcoming but also professional and confidence-inspiring. Kimochi is a very comfortable yacht and her raiseable centreboard allows her to go where other yachts of a similar size with fixed keels can't: in this case up the lovely, atmospheric Butley Creek. We were lucky with the winds and sailed virtually the whole way, using the engine only to leave and return to the mooring and on leaving our lunchtime anchorage at Butley. We were given plenty of opportunity, but no pressure, to take the helm and help with the sails. Altogether a memorable day. Many thanks to Richard and his first mate' (Anne Oliver).
'I sailed on Kimochi for a very enjoyable 10-day trip from the River Deben to Edinburgh. Kimochi is a lovely yacht with comfortable accommodation and a dry cockpit (so you don't get wet!) - she has a lifting keel which meant that we were able to visit a range of harbours and anchorages. The skipper, Richard, looked after us handsomely - he is very experienced, has a good sense of humour and freely shares his expertise. As someone who has a reasonable amount of day-sailing experience I learned LOADS from the trip which helped to build my confidence - there is plenty of opportunity to get involved whatever prior experience you have.
Richard strikes a nice balance of "passage making" and "holiday" - particular highlights for me: close hauled from The Deben to Lowestoft; overnight passage from Lowestoft to Whitby; seeing the sun rise on my birthday; night arrival at North Shields; lunchtime anchor and dinghy trip at Farne Islands (Puffins, Guillemots, Eider Ducks, Seals); anchorage at Holy Island and trips ashore; entry and exit at Eyemouth in strong swell; sailing close to Bass Rock (lots of Gannets); peaceful anchorage at Elie. The food, the beverages and the banter with the crew was also great. Will definitely be booking up for another trip!' (Dan Flicos).
'An Unforgettable Sailing Adventure
After a 30 year break from sailing, I joined the Sea to Peak Expeditions leg from Felixstowe to Edinburgh aboard Kimochi and what an incredible experience it was! The itinerary took us around Britain with unforgettable stops including Holy Island, Amble, the magical Farne Islands, and a thrilling night sail navigating. Whitby was another standout - rich in charm and maritime history.
The highlights were many, but the camaraderie on board, constant laughter, and fantastic food made it truly special. The skipper was professional, calm, and incredibly knowledgeable, always ensuring we felt safe and involved, with clear briefings and just the right balance of structure and flexibility. Kimochi, the vessel, was comfortable and well-equipped.
The joining instructions were clear and helpful, and I felt the trip was priced just right considering the level of experience and adventure provided. This was very good value for money.
I’m already planning my next trip with Sea to Peak Expeditions; and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone considering a unique and rewarding adventure. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or dusting off old sea legs like I was, this is an experience you won’t forget' (Faye Davies).
